When the summer heat fades and leaves begin to change color, you know that it’s time to embrace everything from fall farm festivals to pumpkin patches. There are many evenings spent on hayrides, picking and carving pumpkins, and drinking fresh apple cider with friends and family.

Homestead Gardens hosts a seasonal fall festival that is fun for the entire family. There are many activities, games, and rides; kids love the Pumpkin Patch Express barrel train. There are also hayrides, pony rides, pumpkin picking, pumpkin painting, pumpkin bowling, and a straw maze.

The farm is home to llamas all year long but visitors are allowed to pet and feed them during the festival as well. Add concession stands with fresh, homemade pies, and a day at Homestead Gardens will be memorable for everyone.

The fall festival at Weber’s Cider Mill Farm, Inc. is so much fun and brings the community together. While there are the usual activities such as tractor-pulled hayrides and a hay bale maze, they also have an area where younger guests can mine for gems on the property or meet and greet a bunch of different farm animals.

Other features include a pumpkin and produce farm stand, a farm market, fresh apple cider made on the premises, and a gift shop full of fun things you can take back home with you.

Summers Farm has hosted their Fall Festival for over 25 years and it’s one of my most anticipated family events because there are over 45 activities – it’s guaranteed fun for visitors of any age!

I suggest getting there early and taking some pictures in the pumpkin patch before the crowds arrive; there’s a pumpkin train that takes guests to and from the pumpkin patch. There are also wagon rides, giant slides, face painting, a corn maze, and so many games.

Spend hours with the barnyard animals, and once it gets dark, cozy around the campfire and enjoy the fireworks display.

Lawyer’s Winterbrook Farms

Pack up a picnic basket and head to Lawyer’s Winterbrook Farms for a day of rides, games, and gifts. The family-owned and operated farm in Thurmont has a pick-your-own pumpkin patch, cow train and barrel train rides, tractor-pulled hayrides, and a goat walk. There are so many farm animals that you can pet and feed in addition to the goats.

The farm houses the largest corn maze in the state, with four separate interconnecting mazes. There are additional apple cannons, zip lines, mountain slides, a pedal kart track, and several indoor activities to ensure the festivities continue, rain or shine.

The fun is never-ending and you can host your own picnic or even rent a private campfire site to end the day perfectly.

Perfect if you have toddlers, the fall festival at Maryland Sunrise Farm is designed to ensure the youngest of guests have a good time. There’s a child-sized maze made out of bales of hay, a mini kiddie corn maze, and cow train/ barrel train rides. This farm also has pony rides, which you don’t find in many other fall festivals.

Adults won’t be left out of the fun though – there are tractor-pulled hayrides and an adult corn maze! Afterward, unwind at the certified organic pumpkin patch or have some snacks and drinks at the concessions/ refreshments stands.
