You don’t have to drive to the tidal basin in Washington, D.C. to see cherry blossoms; we’ve got loads of cherry blossoms in Baltimore for you to see.

Cherry Blossom season is one of my favorite times of the year. This is mostly from the combination of the beauty of the blooming trees along with memories from my childhood of my parents taking me to the D.C. Tidal Basin during the Cherry Blossom Festival.

When is the best time to see cherry blossoms?

Often one of the first signs of spring arriving in Baltimore, the blooming of cherry blossoms usually occurs between mid-March and mid-April. The best time to see the trees is usually a few days after peak bloom, though the blooming period can last up to two weeks.

You don’t have to make the drive across 295 into D.C. to see the cherry blossoms this year – unless you want to of course! There are tons of wonderful places in the Baltimore area that have budding cherry blossoms.

One of the most popular places to see cherry blossoms after the D.C. Tidal Basin is the U.S. Arboretum. Their collection of trees is quite breathtaking, but especially the cherry blossoms and magnolias.

It doesn’t hurt that the crowds are much less compared to what you would come across by the Tidal Basin. Also, don’t forget to check out their famed Bonsai trees while you’re there!

  • Address: 1703 32nd St NW, Washington, DC 20007

While the main feature of the historic Dumbarton Oaks estate might be the museum, in the spring, it’s the gardens that you’re going to want to spend time in. The estate’s garden is absolutely gorgeous and the paths you can walk down are lined with cherry blossoms, tulip magnolias, Japanese plum trees, and more.
